that lends me to believe the distributor feels the same way. Think about the contract/booking agreements you had to agree to to get the film in the first place. I'd guess that this would be a 2001 version of Saving Private Ryan, which drew considerable crossover appeal, at least in my area, yet it won't have the legs to go the distance of 4 week sellouts. I'm gonna say right now that I think the film will be a very good movie, with the whole war genre & love story throw in, howeverm I do NOT see this film getting repeat business like, say, Titanic. My feeling is it will be a big success as far as how big depends on how many times you see it. That sort of bothers me because you have Disney sittting there going pearl harbor is going to be huge yet could be less than expected. So when it kept on generating revenue cinemas should have been getting a better percentage as the weeks went by. They were hoping it would make back the extreem cost of the film. Since the film company did not go into the release with the intentions that the film was going to make so much money. He made a fortune, did cinema's ?Īctually cinemas shoulkd have benafited well from this release of Titanic. I just wish Kevin put an interval in there.

So we have the cash to replace xenons before 4000hrs.Ĭameron loved th fact that Dances With Wolves brought back the 3hr+ movie and did so well. Get ppl back in the foyer to the candy bar Only makes sense to to bring back INTERVAL. With film studio's increasing their % cut, it INTERMISSION thats where the cash is made. John, every theatre owner/corp prefers an Today, some theaters really push it to get in as many shows per day as they can. Strange how, at 2h 30m(?), "2001" had an intermission, but "Titanic" at 3h 15m didn't. I like intermissions, but (at least in the USA) no one has them anymore. I'm surprised there is even the ablity to have an intermission.

Incidentally, I'm told the total running time is 183 minutes (without attachments). Could anyone please provide the correct running time of the first four reels of this film so that I can do an accurate timesheet? It would be much appreciated. The intermission in Pearl Harbor (for those theatres having one) is at the end of reel 4.
